Memorial Service Held For Camp Pendleton Marines Killed in Nepal Crash

On Wednesday, June 3, family members and military colleagues of six U.S. Marines killed in a helicopter crash last month in earthquake-ravaged Nepal gathered for a memorial service at Camp Pendleton. Former VFW 5868 Commander Bill Sandlin also attended the afternoon’s flight-line ceremony which culminated with a 21-gun salute, a playing of taps and a helicopter fly-over. VFW 5868’s Arnie Silverman Honored at Anaheim Ducks Game

On Saturday, May 30, outgoing VFW 5868 Post Commander Arnie Silverman was honored during the first intermission of the Anaheim Ducks vs. Chicago Blackhawks game.  Arnie’s family submitted his name to the Duck’s organization “Salute to Those Who Serve” initiative and after the arrangements were made, Arnie was “lured” to the game and surprised with the honor.  You can see Arnie was pretty overwhelmed in the video below.  Way to go Arnie!
